Love Wins! A Celebration of Food and Music to benefit Ana Marquez-Greene Scholarship Fund on Oct. 3
Celebrity chef Jacques Pepin will be at the benefit for the Ana Marquez-Greene Scholarship Fund this Saturday, Oct. 3.
The scholarship fund is in memory of Ana who was one of the 20 children and six educators killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown in 2012.
Jacques Pepin, an internationally recognized French chef, TV personality, and author will be at WCSU on Saturday night (Oct. 3) with other entertainers and musicians at the benefit for the Ana Marquez-Green Scholarship Fund.
Ana was also the daughter of a Western music professor, James Greene.
Pepin is a French Chef, who in his career so far has also written numerous best-selling French cookbooks, hosted his own TV series, and has been a guest judge on the popular TV show Top Chef.
The benefit, Love Wins! A Celebration of Food and Music, is scheduled to be at the Visual Arts and Performing Center at the Westside campus at WCSU, 43 Lake Ave Extension, Danbury, CT 06810.
The event will start at 7 p.m. with a wine and cheese reception. During the reception, Pepin will engage in a question-and-answer session.
TIckets are $15 for students with a valid student ID and $35 for non-students. Tickets can be purchased online or at the VPAC office.
Entertainers and musicians also scheduled to attend are Claudine Pepin, wine expert and author, Grammy award-winning vocalist Kurt Elling, pianist Kenny Barron, bassist John Patitucci, drummer Lewis Nash, and WCSU Coordinator of Jazz Studies Jimmy Greene on saxophone.
At the end of the event, Pepin will participate in a book signing for his book "Jacques Pepin Heart & Soul in the Kitchen." Claudine Pepin will take part and sign her own book called "Kids Cook French", and Jimmy Greene will sign copies of his CD "Beautiful Life."
